This is a landscape painting of Dry Falls, WA based on a plein air painting done on site. It shows the rock carved by the historic ice age floods by the recurrent catastrophic floods of Lake Missoula. The lake was dammed by ice at the southern tip of the Cordilleran ice sheet (at the Clark Fork River)and when the water behind the ice dam got high enough it broke through and flooded vast parts of Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington and the Willamette Valley in Oregon. This may have happened as many as 40 times. At peak flow the release was probably 40 to 60 cubic kilometers per hour. This painting has been accepted into a show at the Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA.
